Natural Oils Types and Uses - Caring of body during ancient times by Ayurvedic physicians, already mentioned in ancient Vedic period, has been a regular and natural practice since ages. Kings and emperors were always given massage therapy for different health benefits is clearly mentioned in the literature. Massage therapies, anti-oxidant therapies and what not has been used by our ancestors to look young with glowing skin and lustrous hair.

Natural Oils Types and Uses

Even certain Natural methods of skincare have been in existence for ages. Historical background reveals that people especially women had only natural products and ingredients at their disposal to take care of their bodies especially skin. A well-known example can be quoted here regarding the instillation of belladonna extract into eyes by natives, especially ladies in order to look beautiful because belladonna contains atropine which would dilate the pupil of eyes. The cosmetic and wellness industries had no existence then and people used natural remedies only in those times.

Skincare for people living centuries ago was all about the natural extracts that they heavily relied on. Even today also, people are applying Multani mite or other kinds of natural face packs or using raw eggs as shampooing and conditioning of hair. At present, no doubt, with the growth of cosmetic and wellness industry, use of natural therapies and recipes for removing skin related ailments such as pimples, acne etc are on the decline.

Only traces can be seen Irrespective of the evolution that had taken place with time, few things still hold on to its grounds even today. People have once again begun to understand the significance of using natural ingredients for skin care. However, natural oils are not just in trend but also are known for the benefits they shower to the skin. The proven results have driven more and more people to get involved with the usage of natural oils for skin.

Different Types of Natural Oils

1. Olive Oil

Let us talk about olive oil or extra virgin olive oil which can be applied on the skin without causing any allergic complications on skin. It can act as a humectant, has moisturizing capabilities.
Vitamins A, D, E, and K are some of the most common types that olive oil contains in itself. This oil is of great help in winters especially one can get rid of dry skin as it needs hydration. 

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is still used in abundance today especially in South part of India. It is applied to hair and even used in the kitchen. It is equipped with both antibacterial as well as antifungal properties. Coconut oil is blessed with great input of vitamins such as E and K. a carrier, its moisturizing capabilities are also well known. However, people who have already oily skin need not apply this oil.

3. Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil is another well-known example of natural oil. In fact, it is the lightest of natural oils. Any individual with greasy or oily skin can apply this oil happily. It is rich in fatty acids which are needed by skin badly. Above all, it has antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

4. Jojoba Oil

It has its origin from Mexico and the southwestern region of America. Jojoba Oil has certain medicinal properties and literature scanning reveals that it has anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties of Jojoba oil. Thus, it is one of the options that one can think in terms of applying it on the skin.

5. Almond Oil

Almonds are luxury in itself. These are no doubt dry fruits which are meant for brain health well known to our ancestors. Almond are having almond oil which has tremendous benefits on skin also. Almond oil is rich in vitamin E content, zinc, proteins, potassium etc. And can be applied on the skin without any allergic complications. The texture and feel of this oil are light  

6. Sunflower Seed Oil

Nothing can beat Sunflower Seed Oil as a natural source of moisturization. The formula of the oil is as such to absorb quickly onto the skin and leaving behind a hydrated outcome. It is rich in the content of vitamin E and it works very good in case of infant skin. In case it is combined with olive oil and subsequently used on infants’ skin, it can cure atopic dermatitis. The other best part of this oil is its availability.

7. Argan Oil

The most popularly used natural oil is none other than Argan oil. There are several underlying benefits of argan oil for the skin that most people are not aware of. Apart from its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, it has anti-aging properties which is something great and one of the major requirements of people at present, be it men or women.

8. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is another addition to list of natural oils. Most beauty and wellness products today come with tea tree oil as an important ingredient. Researchers reveal that Tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and antiseptic properties. Such beneficial medicinal properties are of great significance when it comes to skin health care. Till date, allergic properties have not been reported in literature regarding the use of tea tree oil. 

The basic question arises regarding the application of such natural oils. These can be applied directly on the skin topically by light massage and left over for some time and later removed using a cotton swab. However, virgin olive oil can be applied directly on the skin comfortably.

Another importance concern is to check the incidence of allergic complications varying from individual to individual. No doubt, these very natural oils possess antiinflamatory,wound healing ,antiaging properties on account of their different ingredients which are bestowed with medicinal properties.
